I’m Bénédicte, a French painter specializing in expressive and contemporary depictions of horses.

For over twenty years, I have explored the horse as a mirror of emotion.
Line is at the heart of my practice: a single stroke can reveal tension, movement, and presence.

I believe technique and emotion can coexist in the same drawing.
This course is born from that conviction.

Benedicte Gélé is an equine artist and the creator of the Expressive Horse Art course, where she teaches an approach to horse drawing based on gesture, structure and observation.

That’s not what we’re looking for here. This course is about exploration, presence, and expression. Motivation and curiosity are your main engines — if you have them, you are in the right place.

In which language is the course taught?

The course is taught in French.
All lessons include subtitles in both French and English, so it is accessible even if French is not your first language.
The demonstrations also make the exercises easy to follow visually.

What materials do I need?

You only need simple drawing materials such as pencil, charcoal, pastels or ink…
The course focuses on observation, gesture and expression — not on complex equipment.
A suggested materials list is provided, including some brands if you wish to follow along, but basic supplies are absolutely enough to take part in the exercises.

Will I learn horse anatomy?

Yes, functionally — to support expression and gesture, without getting lost in excessive detail.
